In November 2017 I facilitated a workshop for members of the association Fair Band in Mannheim. Part of the day was dedicated to an evaluation of six of their member organizations. We used the second half of the day to develop a vision and to strengthen the members. Particularly interesting to me was the discussion about the definition and implementation of “Living Wages” for producers and workers in countries of the South.
Fair Band is an association registered in Germany with a focus on fair import and fair sales of handicrafts, clothing and jewellery from so-called developing countries. The association represents the interests of about 30 small and medium-sized import companies in Germany, covering a wide range of fair trade issues. The members strive for solidarity, humane and dignified working conditions and sustainable trade that benefits everyone and enables a life in dignity.
